The GMC Terrain and the Ford Kuga are the most popular compact SUVs. They both have great designs, top-notch safety features, and plenty of performance to choose from. Which one is right for you? Let's take a look!

Design & Style

  • Exterior Design

The 2023 GMC Terrain is a mid-size SUV with a smooth, aerodynamic exterior design. The front face has large headlights, fog lights with LED accents, and prominent air intake in the bumper. The rear end features wraparound taillights, dual exhaust tips, and an integrated spoiler for added style.

The 2023 Ford Kuga is a mid-size SUV with sleek lines and modern design elements throughout its exterior bodywork. Its front end features slim headlamps that extend into the hood line, while its rear end features wraparound tail lights above chrome trim along the bottom edge of each door window frame (sedans only).

  • Interior Design

The 2023 GMC Terrain interior is spacious, with plenty of room for four passengers. The dashboard features an 8-inch touchscreen that allows you to control your music and phone calls and navigate through your favorite maps. Regarding comfort, the seats are supportive without being too firm or soft- a perfect balance!

The 2023 Ford Kuga's interior offers space for up to five people. Vents on either side of the center console allow air circulation throughout your vehicle so everyone stays cool during hot summer days (or cold winter nights). If you need help finding something particular, ask Alexa - she'll tell you where everything is in her car!

Technology & Safety

The Terrain has some of the most advanced technology in the segment. It comes standard with a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto compatibility, a power-operated tailgate (that can be opened by waving your foot under it), remote start, and an available 360-degree camera system that helps you park in tight spaces.

The Kuga offers similar features but not all as standard equipment. For example, its optional hands-free tailgate requires you to press a button on your key fob or door handle before waving your foot underneath it; otherwise, it won't open.

Performance

In terms of performance, the 2023 GMC Terrain is equipped with a 1.5L turbocharged inline-four engine that produces 175 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The Kuga also comes with a 2.0L turbocharged inline-four engine, but it makes 203 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The Terrain has a horsepower advantage, but its torque doesn't match up to Ford's figures by much--a difference of just 50 lb-ft!

The Kuga's is 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder with 181 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. Both vehicles also come standard with front-wheel drive or optional all-wheel drive, so you can expect similar acceleration times from either one when you want to start merging on a busy highway during rush hour traffic (or avoid it altogether).

The Bottom Line

The 2023 GMC Terrain is one of the best SUVs on the market. It has a great design, it's fuel efficient, and it has a ton of features that you'll love. This is worth considering if you're in the market for an SUV and want something reliable!
